At first, I was reluctant to accept when Abby invited me along to the bay with her and her friends. Not because I didn’t want to hang out with Abby, but because the friends she was going with included Peter, Molly, and some of the friends Molly spent most of her time with when she wasn’t hanging out with Damon.

I tried to argue with Abby, telling her I didn’t think any of the people who were going were actually friends of hers, but she just laughed it off and said it was a good excuse to get down to the beach and hang out for a while.

Come on! We’re going to that spot where the river empties into the bay. It’s one of those cool places where fresh water and salt water meet and you can see the line in the water and everything, it’s cool!

It was tempting. I had only gone down to the bay that one day since moving to Secret Bay, and I had heard that was quite the sight to see. But still, I wasn’t entirely convinced it was going to be a good day.

Still, after she pressed me a little harder, I eventually caved into the pressure and donned the swimsuit under my outfit and headed to the bay with the group.

Peter was still very much all over Abby, and it got worse when she was in a bikini, that was for sure, but he wasn’t nearly as bad as Chad had been, and I was glad he wasn’t part of the group. He had been avoiding me at school, and I hadn’t seen Damon hanging out with him, either.

Peter would, but I wasn’t sure Damon had made any mention of what happened during our date, and I certainly hadn’t told anyone. I didn’t want to be more gossip, so I just let it go.

Or, Pere might just be the kind of guy who didn’t care. Either way, I was glad Chad wasn’t present.

The one person I did wish was going who refused was Damon himself. It surprised me to want him there, but I had to admit, it had been hard keeping him off my mind since he tried to kiss me. Everything he had told me that night stuck with me, and I had thought about it over and over.

To think that I had inspired a song that was so beautiful was awe inspiring to me, and it made me feel pretty. Especially knowing he was dating someone as hot as Molly. He could have told me that she was the one who inspired something so pretty, but he didn’t.

It was still hard for me to trust him, but I didn’t think he was lying to me that night. There was something too genuine about what he was telling me for him to not be telling the truth, I was sure of it. I refused to believe he would make all that up just to kiss me, despite the fact he had been so flirty with me since practically day one.
